About This Speaker

Milo Shapiro walked away from his B.S. in Computer Science and fifteen years in Information Technology to pursue his passion:  applying improvisation to business practices, presentation skills, and personal development.  On his last day, a co-worker whispered, “Who’s going to make it fun to work here now?”

Milo began studying improvisation in 1990, joined his first troupe in 1992, and began teaching in 1993.  He has traveled in the US and Canada to continue his own improvisation education and teaching skills.   He served six years as the business manager of the comedy troupe TheatreSports.  Through TheatreSports, with whom he performed for 14 years, he worked with at-risk teens using improv to give them a healthier outlet for expression.

The former Toastmaster and National Speakers Association board member also offers business services as a speaker, a trainer and a coach.  His self-created training program, “TEAMprovising”, has created a team connectedness, improved communication and boosted innovation in groups as diverse as engineers, nurses, office clerks, and US Marines.  His interactive motivational speeches hit upon important messages about our relationship with risk-taking and change while giving the audience a lot of participatory reasons to laugh with each other.

As attendees kept approaching Milo after keynotes asking if he’d be willing to coach them or work with their staff, Milo developed an off-shoot division of his business called Public Dynamicsä.   This coaching and training led to Milo publishing his book “Public Speaking: Get A’s, Not Zzzzzz’s!” and eventually the development of a keynote with the same name, featuring a lively, story-filled speech with ten key points from the book.
